Update: So...I'm back

Well, it's been a while, people of the internet. It's XCrossJ.

So I know I said I'd be coming back in 5 months, but I think I've already gone slightly past that supposed time period. I apologize, but I've been wrestling with RL, etc. etc. etc.

The important thing is, I'm back. (Whether that can be considered good or bad, I'll leave it up to your discretion.)

In any case, since I've been slightly out of the loop, I've got quite some catching up to do.

First thing's first, for those of you who have come from my channel and have been desperately searching for my Merry Christmas Medley music sheet, I've had it up on this site for quite a while.

Here's the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Oz5Qweh0bncXIzODlMckhfWUE/view?usp=sharing

Next, with regards to translations......well, this might get a bit sticky but try and bear with it.

As I might have stated previously, I've sort of grown a bit distant from KnW, making it hard for me to muster up the motivation to actually translate/edit any of the chapters. While I doubt that I'd experience the same stagnation now, I thought I'd get some input from the internet (great idea, I know) about my dilemma.

Basically, should I continue to translate KnW? Or should I pick up another series?

If possible, could you take the time to answer the poll below? You're free to answer whatever you'd like, and I'd also appreciate it if you could suggest other series that might interest me.

With regards to Isekai Mahou, the only reason I'm suggesting it is due to the following:

  1. I'm a fan of the series and I want to continue reading it
  2. The current translator appears to be MIA
If there is any news from the current translator with regards to activity of Isekai, then I'd gladly step down and allow them to continue their work.

Also, keep in mind that this poll will just be an indication of what the community wants. I will not necessarily pick what the internet chooses (although I will admit that my decision can be swayed).

XCrossJ Translations: What Series should be translated?

Konjiki no Word Master (The Golden Word Master)
Isekai no Mahou wa Okuruteru (The Other World's Magic is Too Far Behind)
Both (Very Optimistic Answer)
Neither (Very Pessimistic Answer)
Other
Please Specify:
Quiz Maker

And with that, I guess all I can say is......

I'm back. (We'll see how long I stay this way.... -_-)

(Note: Give me some time to reorganize everything before I actually produce any translations.)

    1. nvm,I was wrong... well the last translated of this novel is at chapter 25(https://soratranslationsblog.wordpress.com/2015/11/23/chapter-25-unedited/), and that was on November, I dont know if the current translator still working on this or not, but I guess you should ask him/her if you want to pick this up

    2. I've also noticed that there is another translator working on this novel. However, I have absolutely no idea how I should go about trying to contact them (I have no idea what their email is and their wordpress appears to have comments disabled). If anyone is able to pass on my question regarding whether or not they're still active, it would be appreciated.

    3. The translator working on it is still active, he just posted a part for chapter 26.

  2. Do whatever you feel like. I've grown far too detached from both series to care at this point.

  4. First off welcome back. Second, Id vote but it's telling me my account can't access it. Personally hearing about how KnW ended killed any interest in seeing the story told . Truely a terrible end. I would like to see Isekai no Mahou translations continue since the other guy just vanished. Another mage-y type story you may want to look into is Seiken Tsukai no World Break. From what is translated the anime did no justice to it at all, especially the anime original last 2 episodes. There are a lot of empty promises on the BT forum for it but that's about it. Another less mage-y but similar MC to KnW would be Hissou Dungeon Unei Houhou though much less of a prick.
-edit sorry screwed up first post.

    2. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm kind of averse to Seiken Tsukai no World Break, most probably due to the fact that I watched the anime -_-. In any case, I think Hissou Dungeon Unei Houhou has already been taken by another translator (correct me if I'm wrong). Still, I'll take a look at it when I can and see if it'll pick my interest.
On a completely separate note, where did you hear about what happened at the end of KnW? Although I remember hearing it from an acquaintance, I have no idea whether the source was credible, let alone what/who the source was.

    3. Wait translation?
      Fuck yes!

And while the anime not doing it justice is obviously a given, It was the 2nd best damn anime I watched this year. The only one I managed to watch in a single sitting and had me pressing next episode. Would be first if the best series ever didnt get a 3rd season this year, even if it was one of the worst adaptations ever.

Also after checking the bakatsuki page, the translation for volume 1 literally finished today, after 8 months of nothing..... so it revived!

    4. Hissou Dungeon was being translated over at https://lnaddiction.wordpress.com/ but has been silent since September 4th. World break according to the BT forum posts has been translated up to vol 4 but for months nothing was posted. Since you also do editing, you may want to contact mechbear on the bt forums as he says he has up to vol 4 translated, but they're unedited on the fly translations. It seems he has actually started posting them today after saying that in early october. Maybe working with them would be easier. Assuming of course you're interested in the project at all. As a personal opinion unless working with another person would just be easier on you I'd prefer to see a series that currently isn't getting any love be picked up vs one that is.

    5. And to add about the end of wordmaster the last bit of the final chapter was translated and posted at 4chan and multiple other places all confirming the same thing. Basically the author running out of ideas and wanting to care more about the LN version.

  12. Welcome back, konjiki no word master needs serious help

  13. knw had a manga version so if it continue and become popular maybe another translator will take it, but isekai no mahou it doesnt have one, so i think is the best option, and also it is a novel a bit more dark and complex, i think it would be more interesting (P/D sorry for my english, its not my mother tongue )

  18. Glad you're back.

I might have voted for you to continue KnW, if the series you were considering was not Isekai no Mahou. I enjoy KnW, but Isekai no Mahou interests me so much more, and it desperately needs a dedicated translator.

  24. Have you looked at the light novel for Roku de Nashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Record?
The prologue & CH1 for it were translated already

    http://joeglens.com/rokudenashi/

    ^The manga

If you like it, you could consider teaming up maybe

  25. I really hope you consider continuing KnW for a little longer. Noob translations just said he was quitting do to a lot of personal stuff. I haven't seen an update from Blazing Translations in a while and Entruce has been focusing on other projects. So if u don't pick it up we may have to plead to raising the dead translations......you know?.......cause it will be dead?

That being said at the same time, isekai maou is a good one I'd like to see translated faster.

    1. Lol nevermind, (well sort of). Just realized that he's quoting because someone else took over. Still, just one guy though. But now I feel a but better and if you decide to do isekai maou that would be cool

  26. knw would be better finished first. im not that good searching so i dont know how many volume left untranslated. considering that it really is finished, its better to finish the translation too or it going to be dead project that takes years to finish. for me the other novel is good too, but i prefer to have the whole series finished. its also good thing to have it finished, so you can focus on the next project also. hope to read translated vn soon, best regards mate.
