Simply put, I'm busy this week so it's highly unlikely that I can release a translation chapter this weekend. (Yay group assignments~)

With that said, I'll try and help out Kiriko with her translation so that a chapter is released this week...maybe...

Update: Changes

Alright. I realize that this probably won't look great, but I've got some news.

Basically, I'm going to be reworking this blog so that, instead of hosting translations, will act as a blog where I can post updates.

What does this mean?

1. No more substantial content will be posted here. Well, I say content but it's basically no translations.
2. My translations will be hosted at this site from now on: https://xcrossjtranslation.wordpress.com/
3. This blog will be used for me to basically post everything that I've been working on. All of my projects will have an update (and possibly status report) here at a later date.

Ok. So the reason why I've decided to move translations away are as follows:

1. IMO, blogspot is a little tedious to use and, honestly, gets annoying sometimes.
2. I want a place for updates that don't contaminate the content. (AKA no more long spiels before translated chapters. The two will be separate.)
3. It's just easier.

Finally, as for all my other translations on this site, they'll still be here and you can probably still access them. For the time being, I've gotten rid of the pages that are pretty much dead but if you go to the "archives" page, you'll probably be able to find your way back to them.


So, TL:DR, it's spring cleaning. Things have changed. That's how things are basically going to go from now on.


Edit: If you're only interested in translations, don't follow this blog. You're probably going to get a lot of irrelevant notifications otherwise.

Update: About Isekai, and the future

And...here we are again.

I'll make things quick.

First things first, I won't be joining Sky in his efforts to translate Isekai. Because they are deciding to translate the Light Novel, I have been rendered unable to assist them (due to my inability to read kanji without a machine).

Anyway, next up, what am I going to do now that I don't have Isekai?

For the time being, I'll basically be doing teaser translations.

First one on the list is:

Well, the title translation is subject to change but, well, this one seemed to be requested once before during my poll.

Update: In response to haters?

Alright. It's been a while (about 2-3 weeks?) since my last post. Sorry, but RL just loves to mess with me (as expected).

I've done about half of the translation for Isekai Chapter 28 and I'll probably end up doing a bit more later this week. If push comes to shove, I'll be posting the chapter in parts to make things a bit easier on me (although I really don't want to do that).

Anyway, Isekai aside, I'm here with regards to my previous update post (Near Disaster), as well as some concerns brought to me by my TL friend Anri (https://dekinaidiary.wordpress.com/2016/03/20/my-perspective/).

First things first, Anri has to deal with a lot of hate comments directed towards Kiriko and myself. Of course, while she has the good mind to censor these comments, I don't see why she has to suffer because of the community or her "senpais" (as she, for some reason, decides to see us as). While I'll tackle the hate comments later, I'd like to ask the community not to bother Anri with issues that honestly don't concern her. Not only will it cause her distress, but you might end up turning her away from translating.

TL:DR, any issues you have, come out and post them here, rather than flooding someone else's traffic. (If you haven't noticed, I barely censor comments over here.)

Oh, and Kiriko says that you can comment on her blog too.



Note: From here on, it's basically me ranting. You can choose to read or not read but this is just me laying things out as I understand them.



Alright, next. I don't know the contents of these hate comments (cause Anri wouldn't show them to me), but they were basically around the topic about how I was using the "near disaster" post to back out of translating KnW.

I'm not going to bother refuting that. After all, in a sense, it is the truth.

I mean, I come out with a late post, I don't explain anything, and I suddenly back out on a promise that I made to the community.

I understand the frustration. Although I'm not sure if the slander brought to my name can really be justified, I can empathize.

So, I'll take the opportunity to give an ambiguous explanation that will (hopefully) give a clearer depiction of what has occurred.


About 3 weeks ago, Kiriko and I woke up to the horror that several files in our translation folder have been shared with the public. Of course, while simple translation documents were obviously included, contact information and other confidential information had also found its way to the "open internet".

While I won't name names, Kiriko and I quickly took everything "classified" off of the net before investigating into who was responsible and challenging them about what happened. Needless to say, their response was....less than promising.

Therefore, in the face of such a disaster, I deemed that it was no longer safe for me to continue working with the KnW team and, shortly after the incident, I made a post that didn't really explain anything.

And if you guys think I'm over-reacting, please send me your email, your credit card details, and other personal information and I'll show you just how scary the internet can be (I obviously won't be following through with such a stupid idea).

Anyway, in light of these circumstances, even if people call me a "liar", a "coward", or a "fucking TL", I, personally, decided that my security and safety is more important than sacrificing myself for people that I might actually never meet ever.



TL:DR, yes. I'm a coward and a (potential) liar and I fully own that. However, I am, contrary to belief, a human being that, FYI, am not getting paid to translate, nor getting paid to risk my security.



With that said, I'm going to finish up by saying that, despite all of this supposed bashing (which I fully understand but don't feel that I deserve), I will try my best to continue translating. even if it's not KnW.



Quick Answers to Pre-emptive Questions:

Did anything bad happen? - Not on a catastrophic level.
Has the issue been resolved? - Sort of, but not completely. That's why I left.
Will you go back to KnW? - I may in the future. Right now, no.
Do you know who was responsible? - Yes.
Is Anri involved? - Not directly so please don't involve her more than she already has been.
Was Anri affected by this disaster? - You're better off asking her.
Were the other members affected by the disaster? - Probably, but I don't think they've noticed.
Do I care about the hate comments? - As much as I pretend not to, I do feel some negative emotions.
Is there any feasible way for me to continue KnW? - Probably. I'm just preoccupied with other things to not be able to set such a method up at the moment.

Update: Near Disaster

Ok. I'll make this quick.

For those of you who are aware, I was intending on returning to the TL scene, picking up the KnW project once more.

However, in light of a "near disaster", I have determined that it would be best for both my sanity and security if I no longer touched KnW.

Now, whether this means I'll be permanently away from the KnW project or not is a matter for another time. Just know that, due to these circumstances, I will no longer be doing KnW.

Yet, because of this decision, I now have the time to focus on Isekai Mahou. While, yes, I'm aware that the translator is still working on the project, I'll be working on a chapter just to see how I cope.

So, for the internet, I declare that I'm currently translating Chapter 28 of Isekai Mahou (yes, I'm aware that Sora Translations has finished 26 and probably moving on to 27). Side note, I've started translation and have currently finished about 2-3/20 pages of chapter 28.

As for what's happening to KnW, I'm fairly certain that Anri (a friend of mine from the "Realm of Chaos") is taking over the translation.

In any case, just wanted to keep people updated (like I should have done a couple of months prior).


P.S. As for what the "near disaster" was, I won't go into specific details but......let's just say that a certain individual did something that shouldn't have been done.

Update: Long Overdue

First of all, let me apologize. I know how weird it must seem considering I made that announcement and all a while ago but let me explain.

Believe it or not, I was enrolled into a holiday class. Basically, I ended up having a lot (and I mean a lot) of work to do and I just couldn't keep up with sticking to my plan.

With that said, I probably should have made an update and informed people so that they understood my circumstances (kind of like what I'm doing now).

So what's the deal? First things first, I'd like to thank everyone who responded to the poll.

Naturally, I've been monitoring the outcome of the polls despite the fact that I was busy and should have probably been working on my assignments. From what I gathered, there's a strong inclination from the community for me to work on Isekai Mahou.

With that said, however, I believe that I will work on KnW again for the time being.

The reasons for me doing so are as follows:

• It's easier and I may potentially have a lot of work to do in the future
• I feel some sort of duty to finish what I've started
• As small as it may be, my interest in the series has been rekindled slightly

Now, for those despairing over the fact that I haven't chosen to work on Isekai, I'll propose the following.

For now, I will continue with KnW. With that said, I may later add Isekai to one of my side projects (if possible).

We'll see whether or not this arrangement works out or not.

But for now, I'm just going to get through my exam period and then try getting on some TLs after that's over and done with.

Update: So...I'm back

Well, it's been a while, people of the internet. It's XCrossJ.

So I know I said I'd be coming back in 5 months, but I think I've already gone slightly past that supposed time period. I apologize, but I've been wrestling with RL, etc. etc. etc.

The important thing is, I'm back. (Whether that can be considered good or bad, I'll leave it up to your discretion.)

In any case, since I've been slightly out of the loop, I've got quite some catching up to do.

Next, with regards to translations......well, this might get a bit sticky but try and bear with it.

As I might have stated previously, I've sort of grown a bit distant from KnW, making it hard for me to muster up the motivation to actually translate/edit any of the chapters. While I doubt that I'd experience the same stagnation now, I thought I'd get some input from the internet (great idea, I know) about my dilemma.

Basically, should I continue to translate KnW? Or should I pick up another series?

If possible, could you take the time to answer the poll below? You're free to answer whatever you'd like, and I'd also appreciate it if you could suggest other series that might interest me.

With regards to Isekai Mahou, the only reason I'm suggesting it is due to the following:

1. I'm a fan of the series and I want to continue reading it
2. The current translator appears to be MIA

If there is any news from the current translator with regards to activity of Isekai, then I'd gladly step down and allow them to continue their work.

Also, keep in mind that this poll will just be an indication of what the community wants. I will not necessarily pick what the internet chooses (although I will admit that my decision can be swayed).

I'm sorry, but RL has started to take it's toll on me. For the mean time, I am applying for a Leave of Absence from KnW.

I plan on coming back in about 3-4 months, but for now, I will be saying farewell.

I'm back...

Ok. Small status update.

I've finished with my exams and am now returning back to the project.

I know I said I'd be back by the 18th but some other things came up and so my return was delayed.

I've finished TLing chapter 138 and am going to edit, proofread, and post the chapter later today/tonight.

I'll also be returning to the editing stage. I've already edited/proofread 2 chapters and they'll probably come out as soon as Kiriko decides to post them.

All said and done, I'm back and I'm (hopefully) better than ever.

My circumstances...

Hey. XCrossJ here.

Some of you might think I've gone and died. I'm still around. I've just come for an obligatory status update.

My Rage Post

For those of you who saw my (first ever) rage comment (sorta) on LoliQ's site, I'm sorry. I've just been stressed with Real Life and leechers hounding me (or the team for that matter) isn't helping me calm my nerves. I'll try and...refrain from that sort of post again...

Exam Period

Now then. First and foremost, for those who have not yet seen the status on the Progress Report, I am in my EXAM PERIOD. This will mean several things:

• I will be less involved with the KnW project until exams are over
• I will only be a TL for this period of time. I will not be taking editor/proofreader duties whatsoever
• I will be slow to update KnW if at all

Now, this does not mean I'm abandoning KnW. It just means that I am prioritising RL for a little bit.

I have already completed translating Chapters 124 and 133. I'll probably finish 134 sometime during the weekend. I will refrain from releasing these chapters until I'm sure of their quality (basically, I'm waiting for 123 to be complete so I can reference it with 124). Still, I will still somewhat be involved in the project (or at least will try to be).

Ah, by the way, my Exam Period ends June 18 (roughly). I believe that ELYSION is also coming back from his hiatus at that time so we should be picking up speed again?

Side Project

Some of the members of our KnW team and I have decided to start a little 'side project'. I won't disclose too much yet but I think you might(?) like it when we unveil it.

Yeah...I kinda just stopped paying attention to this one. I'm sorry, but I already got my hands full with RL. I'm pretty sure EL is still taking care of the project (I think?). Either way, I won't be focusing to much on this WN until my workload decreases...

Chapter 98 & Insignia Pierce

I'm sure you guys already know about chapter 98. Insignia Pierce was courteous enough to place disclaimers explaining the situation so I won't go over it again. I'm still waiting for a reply from NB about whether or not they'll join our 'team'. I'll just say that I support them joining us.

New Editor?

We also got a new editor (Yosha!).
Welcome Pork Supreme to the project. They seem to be similar to me, an MATL (Machine Assisted Translator) so I expect great things from them.

Chapter 96?

I TL'd this mostly because it was available, but because it's shorter than 95 and LoliQ reserved it. Now, 95 has become open trans. (Please don't start criticizing our method of operations again. I know it's coming, but we could really do without it at the moment.)

Chapter 95

We're working on it. It's tough because all of our main TLs seem to be busy (EL, NB, XJ, YK). Expect a delay on this one.

The possible reasons for this coming out within the week are:

• NetBlazer decides to pour a lot of time into the chapter (unlikely)
• ELYSION decides to give up Isekai and focus on KnW (unlikely)
• Yoraikun decides to sacrifice study hours to translate it (unlikely)
• XCrossJ decides to screw himself over and translate it (unlikely)
• Some kind outsider decides to TL the whole 20 pages of Jap text (unlikely)
• A miracle occurs (unlikely)

Basically, don't expect much for a while.

KnW Page Overhaul

I'll be overhauling the KnW page. Why? For these reasons:

• Blogger comments make the page really, really, really long. They will not be allowed on the new page. For inquiries, put them in either FAQ or Progress Report. Comments that do not abide by this will be dealt with in the appropriate manner. (I also received comments complaining about the comments, so...)
• I hate the url. It was something like 'this-is-the-page-I-link-to'. It really irks me, considering I'm a meticulous person.

There'll be a transition period between changing of pages. I'll also be keeping the old KnW page open in case someone wants to access it. I will not be further updating the old page.

Current Status

We are currently [Crippled] because our main TLs are currently busy, as well as a flow of new TLs coming in (from somewhere or other). Basically, what I'm trying to say is that we are not dead. We are just moving slowly, slowly forward.

The reason I'm answering with a post is because I'm actually quite busy right now, yet, I thought this was something that needed to be addressed quite quickly. Also, I don't have a reddit account...

I understand that this may have caused outrage, for whatever reason. I'm aware that there are several things that need to be fixed with our approach to this translation project. After all, it would probably be disrespectful to the original author if we did not do this right.

Now, let me just clarify a few things.


Camus/Kamui:

NetBlazer decided to use Kamui as the translation. Our reference sheet does say Camus, yet, NB felt that this did not suit well with him, thus the current Camus/Kamui confusion. I did mention to NB that the rest of us have used Camus. It was up to him in the end to use Kamui.


Chapter 86:

I'm sorry, but this may have been my fault. I am currently very busy this week and I did not think I would complete 86 in time, thus, I did 87. Following this, Caps reserved 86 so I went ahead to 89. Then, 86 became an open translation so, at the moment, it's only been NB and I working on it. NB can only work on the project 2 hours at a time, and I'm currently on my way to a week full of assignments...


New Additions:

We've got new members that just asked recently to come on board the translation project. I have had no interaction with them prior to today.


Chapter Gap (AKA Chapter 114 + 115):

This is my hypothesis. Not gospel. If you want more details, you're better off asking the actual person.

Loliquent wanted to translate some chapters as a test of their skill. Thus, they reserved a chapter far, far ahead thinking that we wouldn't get up to it by the time they finished translating. Undoubtedly, this was done so they could contribute to the project without being redundant (double chapter).
This was done before they asked to join the project without our knowledge. Thus, it has not gone through quality control, nor was it actually reserved beforehand.

I'm not particularly blaming Loliquent. I just want you to understand that we are not omnipotent. You cannot expect us to be psychic, nor can we expect people to follow our 'weird' procedures.


The 'Team'

We call ourselves a team, but I think of it more as a collaboration of people who do whatever we want. I've been told that Editors of a trans team are usually the Team Leader. However, I consider NB the leader cause he got onto the project before I did (and Yoraikun kind of deferred leadership to NB as he's working on Tate no Yuusha). With that said, we don't really work together. We just reserve our own chapter and release it. Yes, they pass it to me for editing, yet, not all of the decisions I make go into the final post (see Camus/Kamui above).


With all that said, I apologize for the confusion. I am trying to see if I can influence a change in the team's 'method of operations' but I cannot promise.


Remember, I am a human being that takes some of his free time and puts it into this translation project. Please understand that I have other commitments. I really don't want to quit this project as I'm enjoying it so far...


Update 1 (25/4/2015):

After a certain conversation, I felt that my points haven't been made quite clear. There are also additional points I'd like to make, thus the update. (Though I doubt anyone'll read this...)

• We have been using Google Drive from the very start. We are well aware of it's benefits.
• We are not a formal team. We do not have a proper leader. We are just a bunch of people.
• We have little influence over each other's translation style/format/motivations
• Loliquent was an unrelated third party when they translated chapters 114-115
• Blazing Translations is the blog to follow if you want to be properly notified of posts in Chronological Order.
• If you read the other chapters ahead of time, it is no-one's fault but your own
• ELYSION may be offering donations but it is not compulsory. You can talk to him about costs/prices and release schedules but, in the end, he will still release chapters for free (regardless of quality).
• English is not ELYSION's first language.
• ELYSION often places an 'UNEDITED' label at the top of his trans.
• If you have issues with the quality, either don't read them or do something about it. Actions speak louder than words. (Kind of Ironic considering we're doing KnW)
• Yoraikun's blog is updated infrequently as he is busy with Tate no Yuusha. I suggest not following it if you want to be updated the instant a chapter comes out.
• I'm not encouraging you to stop going to Yoraikun. I just wish you'd respect that his blog is behind as he does not update it frequently. You shouldn't really blame him for it.
• We 'reserve' chapters before hand. I, at least, translate line by line, not chapter by chapter. We are not MTLs (at least, not purely).
• I am a Machine Assisted Translator FYI (it's stated in the FAQ). I do not rely on it, I use it to help me with my Kanji reading. Still, I try and output my trans with a certain degree of quality.
• I'm not sure about the others, though. Go ask them yourself?
• I know that we still have much to learn, but we're a new group...I myself have only been translating for barely 2 months...
• I have a lot on my plate being the team editor (along with Dal). I can try and fix up the quality as long as the TLs let me.
• Rei_Hunter, I know you're trying to be helpful. I just believe there is a better way of going about it. I appreciate the input, although I can't guarantee that anything will change.
• Yes, I realize that, at the moment, this post is probably no better than Rei's. Still, I'm trying to clear up some confusion while clearly stating the current situation.

This is not meant to be a rage post. This is meant to inform the readers of the project's current status.

It seems that something is happening...

This is not another chapter. This is an update. I don't mind if you don't read this, but I'm going to address some concerns that some people may or may not have. (Or at the very least, concerns that I have)


Concern Number 1: ELYSION Translations and Blazing Translations

It appears that ELYSION and NetBlazer are setting something up. While I am aware what it is and am also apart of it, I will say this.

I will be continuing this translation project and I believe that NetBlazer and ELYSION also share this sentiment.


Concern Number 2: Schedule

So I would have usually put out a KnW chapter today, but instead, I did one for Nidoume, even though I said I wouldn't. I guess it changed.

The idea is that I'll be doing one of my sub projects every week (refer to FAQ if you don't know what they are). I won't be dropping KnW. Also, as I've said before, this is not definite. I will translate when I translate.

This is more of a rough guide and, the idea is, I'll be alternating between the sub projects.


Concern Number 3: Monetization

Ok. So some people may have noticed the new Donation page. After seeing ELYSION and his donation scheme, I've decided to try it out.

Unlike ELYSION, money is not going to be an incentive to get me to translate quicker. I am not begging for it. It'd be nice if you did donate (and I would certainly appreciate it), however, nothing will change regardless of whether you do it or not.

Also, the reason it's a page and not a gadget on the side is so that people who don't care don't have to deal with it.


Concern Number 4: Ads

Ok. I hate ads. I've always hated having ads when I read Manga/LN/WN.

Yet, it seems to be a free way for people to 'contribute' to my efforts.

At the moment, I have not implemented any ads on this site. However, if I do, I will most likely limit it to one (probably at the bottom of the page).


Concern Number 5: The Future

At the moment, it seems like some sort of change may occur.

However, no matter what the future holds, I will try and ensure that I deliver my works with as much quality as I can possibly achieve so that you guys can have a wonderful experience.

Cause in the end, we're all Otakus! (If you're not, then I'm sorry if I may have offended you?)

An Update that may or may not interest you...

First off. No, this is not another chapter. I don't really want to put anymore pressure on Yoraikun seeing as he has several leechers breathing down his back.

As some people may or may not have noticed, a new page has appeared on my blog entitled 'Nidome no Jinsei wo Isekai de'.

This is a new translation project that I have been asked to participate in. I have read the first two chapters (the only available chapters) and have decided to lend the project a helping hand.

Now, I have no idea why they let me in considering I only have experience doing translations and edits for a little over a month, but they did and, for that, I'm slightly flattered.

For those concerned about this 'new arrangement', let me just make things clear.

1. I have not signed a contract for this translation project so I am not bound to it. I will participate as long as I feel like and may or may not drop this project in the future.
2. I am currently an editor and, as my edits take about 30 minutes on average, it should not interfere with KnW translations
3. I will only do translations for this new project under the condition where there is a severe chapter gap in KnW. With that said, this condition is not definite and I may pour some free time into the new Trans if I feel like it.
4. I am not leaving the KnW translation project so do not be alarmed. I will most likely stick with this project to the very end.
